When you think about a medical mission trip, what comes to mind? Perhaps it’s a doctor examining a patient in a rural clinic, or a nurse providing care under a tent in a remote village.

While these moments represent the heart of our work, they’re only possible because of three essential pillars that support every single mission:

1. Our partners

2. Our Volunteers

3. Our Donors

Today, we want to shine a light on each of these vital components and share how you can be part of making healing and hope possible in some of the Africa’s most underserved communities.

First Pillar: Our Partners in Ministry

Medical missions require more than just willing hearts—they require logistical expertise, medical supplies, and sustainable infrastructure. That’s where our incredible ministry partners come in. These organizations don’t just support our work; they amplify it, making it possible to serve more people more effectively.

Blessings International

Blessings International Logo

Blessings International has been our trusted partner, for many years, in ensuring that every medical mission has the supplies it needs to succeed.

They provide high-quality medications that meet both U.S. and international standards. When our teams arrive in Uganda or South Sudan, we’re equipped with everything we need to serve the communities most in need—all made possible through Blessings International’s warehouse and distribution network.

Even in our most complex mission trips, Blessings has repeatedly gone above and beyond to ensure that needs are met. Their commitment to maximum impact aligns perfectly with our mission to be faithful stewards of every resource God provides.

Blessings International exists to heal the hurting, locally and globally, by providing life-saving pharmaceuticals, vitamins, and medical supplies to mission teams, clinics and hospitals, and disaster relief groups. It is through partnerships with medical nonprofits, like Mission Partners For Christ, that Blessings International fulfills their purpose.

Providing the medical supplies allows them to share the hope found in Jesus by loving underserved communities in this tangible and practical way. – Blessings International CEO Barry Ewy, It Takes All Of Us To Be The Hands & Feet of Jesus

We have been privileged to be able to work alongside Blessings International for many years. They are one of our go-to partners at the beginning of so many of our trips, and they are instrumental to the work God has given Mission Partners For Christ to do. We are exceedingly grateful to work alongside of them.

Not only do they help to equip us in this work, but they have also literally worked alongside of us in the mission field! Warehouse worker and Pharmacy Technician, Jean, accompanied our team in February of this year to Guinea (you can read about his experience below!)

2025 has been a great year for Blessings International – God has blessed their work greatly and underserved communities around the globe have personally felt the impact of their ministry. This past year has been the most fiscally successful one yet, which allows them to reach even more people than they ever have before!

In the last 12 months, Blessings International have worked with partners in more than 100 nations and territories, and more than 12 million people worldwide are living healthier lives today.

The Christian and Missionary Alliance

We have recently connected with The Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) through our mutual ministry of sharing the love of Jesus through medical missions, and we absolutely love the work that they do!

At the forefront of their mission is a heart to serve: the hurting, the marginalized, and the souls of the world most in need of Christ’s compassion. They firmly believe that it is through reaching out and meeting real physical needs that the unconditional love of Jesus can be effectively communicated.

The Christian and Missionary Alliance traces its origins to November 1881, when Reverend Albert Benjamin Simpson resigned from his prestigious New York City pastorate to pursue a calling to reach the city’s marginalized and overlooked populations. What began with just seven people gathered around a heating stove in a cold dance hall grew into a movement focused on evangelizing both locally and globally.  In 1882, Simpson founded the Missionary Training Institute—the first North American Bible college—to prepare young people for missionary service, and by 1887, he organized two societies (The Christian Alliance and The Missionary Alliance) that would merge in 1897 to become “The Christian and Missionary Alliance.”

The organization’s core theology, known as the “Fourfold Gospel,” centers on Jesus as Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King. From its earliest days of serving the neglected, the impoverished, and the marginalized people of New York, the Alliance has maintained a concern for reaching lost and suffering people. Today,  the C&MA is a global movement with 2,000 U.S. churches and around 700 international workers serving in 70 countries.

In The Alliance, we are passionate about loving our neighbors and loving our world. We do that through planting churches, discipling and mentoring new believers, caring for the sick, befriending the lonely, feeding the hungry, teaching about Jesus, being present, and then some. The Alliance has two areas of ministry that are instrumental in our ability to share all of Jesus to all the world—Alliance Church Ministries and Alliance Missions. – C&MA 101, Who We Are

In 2024, The Christian and Missionary Alliance:

  • Made up 81% of international workers serving amongst 200+ unreached people groups
  • Established a new gospel presence in the Middle East
  • Completed a 60-year translation project in Indonesia, which led to many people receiving the Bible in their native language for the very first time!

And so much more that you can read about here.

We are so excited to see how God will continue to with through the C&MA to reach people with the gospel of our Lord!

MissionGuide

This section was written and submitted by MissionGuide

MissionGuide, formerly ShortTermMissions.com, was launched in December 2000 as a quality collaborative resource for believers to discover and step into Christ-centered mission opportunities that align with their gifts and calling, while providing ministries a place to share their trips and connect with those ready to go.

In 2020, MissionGuide joined with MissionExcellence and now, as a part of MissionWorks, serves as a website tool that helps people enlist in mission trips and partnerships with mission agencies. Individuals, groups and families can search available ministry opportunities by narrowing down options according to their preferences such as length of service, place, type of ministry, skills, cost and more.

MissionGuide partners with many experienced mission sending agencies, such as Mission Partners for Christ, to help people engage in missions for either the first time or returning service opportunities.

MissionGuide is a ministry of MissionWorks, providing individuals, churches, mission organizations and schools with all the outstanding resources, connections and trainingneeded to be successful in local and global mission work. We offer regional mission conferences, mission enlistment opportunities, training and accreditation in God-Centered standards, trip insurance and fundraising tools.

Our goal is to see more people like you doing more in mission and doing it better. Our prayer is that God uses this platform to raise up and send thousands into His harvestfield, fulfilling the Great Commission.

Second Pillar: Our Volunteers and Alumni

Behind every successful medical mission is an army of dedicated volunteers—both those who travel to the field and those who serve faithfully at home. These are the hands and feet of our ministry, the ones who turn vision into reality and compassion into action.

Whether examining patients in a rural clinic or sorting medications stateside, our volunteers share a common commitment: to serve those who have been overlooked, to bring healing to places of hurt, and to demonstrate God’s love through practical, tangible care. Every volunteer—regardless of their role—is essential to fulfilling our mission.

Jean: Witnessing God’s Power in Guinea

After some time away, I was looking for a way to return to the mission field when a coworker of mine, Meagan, suggested Mission Partners For Christ (MPFC).

When I went to MPFC’s website and read about the amazing work the team is doing around the world, especially in Africa, I was automatically convinced that I needed to join. A lot of groups go all around the globe to help people in need, but what MPFC is doing to reach unreached people is breathtaking.

From the time we hit the airport, we could see the hand of the Lord moving. From the luggage to the airplane… even as we safely landed and started our mission trip, we were in awe of all that we get to do: seeing so many patients, loving on them, and providing medical care and prayer.

There were many wonderful moments that happened in the villages we served. We had the privilege of helping so many people who desperately needed medical help. However, my biggest takeaway was witnessing God’s almighty power manifest in real life in a way that I have never seen before:

Guinea has a population of over 85% Islam, and to see that many people were willing to raise their hands and come to Christ… it was only the Holy Spirit himself working through each one of us that were involved.

The trip had many impacts on my relationship with God. First, it reminded me of some of my prayer times I used to have with God back when I was living in Haiti. In Haiti, as a Christian, I learned that in any situation God is not one of the options—He is the option. Serving in Guinea with MPFC helped me to continue to see God for what He should be in my life: as my Savior.

I cannot wait to return to serve with MPFC in Africa, or any other place that God calls me to go. Since my last trip, I am constantly checking my schedule to see when I can go on my next trip with MPFC to serve. Sheri Postma, the found of Mission Partners for Christ, knows what she is doing—she has the skills to lead groups and takes great care of her team. But I saw something bigger in her: I saw that she selflessly submitted herself to God to be used for His kingdom.

If you go on one trip with MPFC and see what they are doing to help people, I promise you will come back and start planning your next trip with them.

Jen: A Call To Missions She Couldn’t Ignore

When I was 15 years old, I was called to the mission field.

I remember my mother telling me that there were two professions desperately needed on the mission field: nurses to meet medical needs and teachers to meet educational needs. Both professions open doors to the spreading of the Gospel.

There was no doubt in my mind about the path before me.  I knew medicine was my vehicle to countries and communities that might otherwise have no access to the Gospel.

After graduating from high school, I obeyed God’s call. I attended a one-year program at a Bible college and then obtained my degree as a Physician Assistant.

I have been working in primary care/urgent care since.

I discovered Mission Partners For Christ through a google search.

At the time, I was looking for a way to obey God’s calling on my life, and I was hoping to find short-term, Christian-based medical mission opportunities. I reviewed several and then came across Mission Partners For Christ.

I immediately knew that this was the group for me! This would be a God-centered ministry through which I could fulfill my calling in missions.

My first trip with MPFC was during the summer of 2023. We were going to be serving in Burundi, which is the second poorest country in the world.

On our last clinic day, the people were becoming very restless and rowdy. There were great needs and many wanted to be seen by the providers. We had to end the clinic early due to the increased restlessness of the people. The team was disappointed, but as we started to pack up a beautiful thing happened.

The crowd gathered around our leader, Sheri, and some local missionary partners.

Noticing that the crowd’s attention was captured, one missionary began to preach the Gospel.

The large crowd listened intently to the Gospel of Christ and the salvation message. An estimated crowd of 100-150 people raised their hands to accept Jesus. That was an “aha!” moment for me. That was the moment that it became clear why God called us there.

We were not here to solely give packs of vitamins or Tylenol. We were there to proclaim the good news of Jesus and deliver healing to their hearts.

Sophia: Medical Missions Keep Her Connected to Africa And To God

Mission Partners For Christ has been so instrumental in my walk with the Lord. I have been blessed to be a part of MPFC since its conception.

Traveling with likeminded persons has been a highlight and a testimony. The wonders of seeing and working side-by-side with the missionaries on the ground has strengthened my faith.

From the time we hit the airport, we see the hand of the Lord moving. From the luggage to the airplane… even as we safely land and begin our trip, we are in awe of all that we get to do: seeing so many patients, loving on them, and providing medical care and prayer.

I have had the opportunity to be a pharmacy nurse, wound care, triage, and teaching & supporting the doctor/practitioners in administering medicine.

One of my favorite bonding moments has always been counting medications (Lol). There is singing, laughing, and such a camaraderie. We also have what we call “devo,” or “devotional time.” Devotional time is where the presence of the Lord is resting as the word of encouragement, exhortation, song’s testimony, and prayers are offered up. I feel like the smile of the Lord is present. Matters of the heart are handled and we hear or see God answer. We come with the expectation to serve and we leave to go home full of memories that last a lifetime.

I feel so free when I’m on missions assignment. When I go on medical mission trips, the Bible becomes alive and active to me. I feel so close to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are to be his hands and feet.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse, my assignments usually consist of of being a school nurse in the daytime and nightshifts in a home health setting. Mission trips allow me to come out of the box and work in his vineyard. (Matthew 9:36). The fact that He can use my skill set as a Licensed Practical Nurse to support our siblings in Christ that are doing the work is an honor and a privilege.

Even more beautiful is how volunteering in Africa feels like coming home for me. It’s boots on the ground. I am endowed with melanin, and going to Africa has connected me to the land, my people, and most of all: my God.

Third Pillar: Our Donors

Partners provide the resources. Volunteers provide the service. But none of it happens without the financial support of faithful donors who believe in the mission and invest in making it possible. Our donors are the foundation that allows everything else to stand.

Every dollar given represents a choice—a decision to prioritize healing over comfort, compassion over convenience, and kingdom work over earthly gain. Our donors understand that medical missions aren’t just about treating illness; they’re about restoring dignity, sharing hope, and demonstrating that no one is forgotten or beyond the reach of God’s love.

Your gift to the Light the Way campaign will directly fund:

  • Medical supplies and medications for our 2026 and 2027 mission trips to South Sudan, Guinea-Bissau, Uganda, and more
  • Health education supplies to empower underserved individuals to to control of their health
  • Evangelisitic supplies such as solar audio Bibles and Jesus film (+ equipment to show the film)
  • So many more things that go into making a medical mission trip a success!

When you give to our Together for Transformation campaign, you’re not just supporting a one trip—you’re becoming part of a movement. You’re joining our partners in providing resources, standing alongside our volunteers in their service, and ultimately, bringing the light of hope and healing to those who need it most.

The Strength of Three

Partners. Volunteers. Donors. Three pillars, one mission: to bring healing, hope, and the love of Christ to the forgotten spaces across Africa. Each pillar is essential. Each one supports the others. And together, they create something stable, strong, and able to bear the weight of our calling.

The question isn’t whether medical missions are worth supporting—the thousands of lives changed each year answer that question clearly. The question is: Which pillar will you be?

Will you partner with us by connecting your organization to our mission? Will you volunteer your time and talents—whether in the field or at home? Or will you donate, providing the financial foundation that makes everything else possible?

Whatever form your support takes, know this: you’re not just giving to an organization. You’re investing in transformation. You’re choosing to be the hands that heal, the voice that encourages, and the heart that cares when others have turned away.

Join us in lighting the way.

Give to the Light the Way campaign today and help us reach our $12,000 goal.
