Burundi 2023 Recap

Growing the Kingdom and Providing Life – Changing Medical Care in Burundi.

The majority of the Burundi population lives in rural areas which has lead to deforestation,

soil erosion, and habitat loss.

This has caused:

5

Extreme poverty

5

Food insecurity and starvation

5

Obstacles to healthcare and education

To make matters worse, many of the people who call Burundi home have never met Jesus or heard the gospel message. This is why God called our team to go and serve.

Our Mission In Burundi:

To bring doctors, medical professionals, and other Christ-followers to serve and share the gospel:

Objective 1

Share the Gospel With the Unreached.

We were privileged to be able to introduce more than 100 people to Jesus during our time serving in Burundi.

Since we’ve been home, our partner IMIF has been hard at work providing hope through medical care and the gospel. They have seen more than 200 people saved in the last year!

This Summer, we received word that more than 15 men, women, and children have been baptized and are dutifully studying their Bibles to learn more about Jesus.

Objective 2

Bring the Hope of Physical Healing

Our team visited four different villages and treated the medical needs of hundreds of people who lived with little to no access to medical care or health education.

Since our return to the USA, we have heard the following updates about the patients we served in Burundi. Here are just a few examples of many:

  • Many women who suffered from chronic pain are now pain-free
  • One woman who suffered from insomnia for many years is now able to sleep at night
  • Many villagers feel empowered to care for their health by watching their diet.

Objective 3

Ensure Access To Clean Water

It is always a top priority to ensure that the villages we work with have access to clean drinking water, and Burundi was no different.

When we served on Ruyoka Island, we couldn’t help but notice the extreme lack of access to clean drinking water. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were able to donate water filtration devices that will ensure that islanders have clean water for at least a decade to come.

A recent update from one of Ruyoka Island’s inhabitants told us that the health of everyone has improved thanks to these water filters!

Our Team

In July of 2023, our team of 9 women traveled to Burundi to serve several rural communities that we had, with the help of our partner on the ground, identified as both unreached with the gospel and underserved with little to no access to healthcare. There, we served alongside our partner, IMIF, to ensure that the hope of Jesus and medical care would reach those who need it most

Thank you to Jen, Adela, Kelsey, Sheree, Kelly, Kathleen, Traci, and Christen – and the IMIF crew –  for your service to the people of Burundi!

Highlights From The Trip

Salvation, medical care, and other answers to prayer.

Providing Life Saving Medical Care in Burundi

Highlight 1

Prayer was a big part of our time serving in Burundi.

Not only did we have an impromptu prayer session led by a young evangelist God sent to share the gospel, we also had many people ask for prayer and counseling after seeing our doctors without any encouragement or pushing from our missionaries.

Highlight 2

The gospel took hold in Burundi so much that a new church was created during the week that we were there!

Since we left Burundi, 15 people from the Batwa made the choice to accept Christ as their personal Savior and to take the step to be baptized to show their commitment to faith and standing in Christ!

Highlight 3

On our second day serving in Burundi, we met two women come to see us who had suffered from demonic possession for years. Our team witnessed the manifestation of demonic possession, and we also witnessed the power of the Lord as He healed both of these women and released them from the chains of the evil spirits.

Thank you to all who support this trip through prayer and financial support!

What Villagers Have To Say:

We’re so grateful to mission partner for Christ and other partners who facilitated medical outreach in Burundi July 15-22, 2023

Our prayers is that, God is not unjust: he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them in Togo, and other places.

Long-Term Impact

5

After receiving health education at our free medical clinics, many people now know how to manage their own high blood pressure, diabetes, and other health conditions which leads to a much higher quality of life

5

Prior to the water filtration devices MPFC donated to the people of Ruyoka Island, worms were a constant problem for people. Now people are healthy and parasite free

5

Our gift of Jesus Film equipment means that the gospel is still being taught throughout Burundi, and we get updates regularly about the many people who are meeting Jesus for the first time.

There are 400 million people living without access to basic healthcare in the world today. Mission Partners for Christ sends teams of doctors and volunteers to unreached communities in Africa so they can receive life-changing medical care while hearing the gospel for the first time.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
