Indian Ocean Island
June 21-30, 2025 Recap

Growing the Kingdom and Providing Life – Changing Medical Care in a Closed Country

God called us to serve for a third time in a closed island nation in the Indian Ocean

There are great needs for resident, both spiritual and physical:

5

There are less than 1% Christians and most are foreigners living in the country.

5

Those that are believers in this country meet, worship, and study God's word in secret due to persecution and the threat of imprisonment.

5

Access to healthcare of any kind is extremely limited

Our Mission In This Island

To bring doctors, medical professionals, and other Christ-followers to serve and share the gospel:

Objective 1

Share the Gospel With the Unreached.

At each of our free health outreach clinics, we offer prayer and counseling to each patient we treat. We never pressure anyone to attend these counseling sessions, and it is always 100% voluntary.

During our time serving in this closed country, we were privileged to be able to introduce nearly people to Jesus during our time serving in this closed island country.

Seven people made a decision to accept Christ as their Savior, with two of our translators appearing to be open to learning more about the gospel.

Objective 2

Bring the Hope of Physical Healing

The people on this island have limited access to healthcare, which includes education about the building blocks of a healthy diet and lifestyle.

Our team was blessed to be able to treat nearly 1500 people across five different villages during our 4 days of service. We addressed everything from basic health education to complex medical needs. We provided valuable health education on topics like hepatitis, HIV, malaria prevention, and general hygiene—knowledge that will benefit these communities long after our departure.

    Objective 3

Support the local church of believers

Residents of this closed country are legally required to practice Islam, and risk persecution and imprisonment for professing a different faith. As you might imagine, this can lead to a sense of isolation for many faithful believers.

We were able to gift audio Bibles in the local language, funded by team member Rosemary’s nonprofit organization, Momentum in Missions. Our team also helped to facilitate and strengthen relationships with local believers who continue to meet secretly for fellowship and growth. We were also able to encourage missionaries who have been faithfully serving for years.

    Our Team

In June of 2025, our team traveled to a small island nation in the Indian Ocean to serve several five remote communities that we had, with the help of our partner on the ground, identified as both unreached with the gospel and underserved with little to no access to healthcare.

    Highlights From The Trip

Salvation, medical care, and other answers to prayer.

Providing Life Saving Medical Care in Burundi

    Highlight 1

Health education is of the utmost importance for communities that have little to no access to even the most basic healthcare.

We provided valuable health education on topics like hepatitis, HIV, malaria prevention, and general hygiene—knowledge that will benefit these communities long after their departure.

    Highlight 2

Note: The child’s identity is being protected. This image is of another child who was seen by our team in a different country

Sheri and Rosemary laid hands on this deaf 11-year-old boy’s ears and prayed simply, trusting the Holy Spirit to move. Immediately—not gradually, but immediately—the boy could hear perfectly.

    New leaders

    Highlight 3

Our team left behind audio Bibles in the local language, funded by team member Rosemary’s nonprofit organization, Momentum in Missions. We also helped to facilitate and strengthen relationships with local believers who continue to meet secretly for fellowship and growth. They encouraged missionaries who have been faithfully serving for years, sometimes with little visible fruit.

Thank you to all who support this trip through prayer and financial support!

    What Villagers Have To Say:

Chimezie (Chim), a missionary who joined our team as we served a closed country recently, sent a message to all of our supporters. Take a minute to listen in to how God is moving in Africa!

    A message from Chim:

“Dearly beloved I’m back from the islands. I made this 2-minute video while on the island just to thank you for all your support that made such a huge difference there.

    I can’t begin to itemise all that God did through your prayers and giving;

You asked for good weather and the weather was so appropriate throughout the 2 weeks.

You prayed for the movement of our medical supplies across the islands and God made a way.

You prayed and we saw tangible miracles and salvations.

You prayed and almost all the believers boldly attended the days of teaching.

And because of your prayers lives were changed during the equipping time with the believers.

Something is truly happening here. And I know that the seeds that have been planted will bring in a harvest.

I truly appreciate your partnership with us.”

    Long-Term Impact

    5

Our gift of solar audio Bibles, with thanks to our partner Momentum in Missions, will help to ensure the growth of the local church community as they are finally able to access the Bible in their own language.

    5

The gospel is spreading and more and more people are hearing and accepting the gospel as local believers are boldly stepping out in faith.

    5

Our free health education offerings are ensuring that residents are empowered to care for their own unique health situation, which will lead to stronger and healthier communities long-term.

Interested in Joining an Upcoming Mission?

There are 400 million people living without access to basic healthcare in the world today. Mission Partners for Christ sends teams of doctors and volunteers to unreached communities in Africa so they can receive life-changing medical care while hearing the gospel for the first time.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
