Then Jesus came to them and said,  “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

-Matthew 28:18-20

Missions are a central part of the average evangelical’s faith. Not content to merely sit at home, and keeping our faith to ourselves, the Holy Spirit has given us a longing to ensure that every soul has a chance to learn about our beautiful Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

We know what He has accomplished for us, and just to think about it can fill our spirit’s with awe and wonder, because… isn’t it such a humbling thought to know that the Creator of the universe loved us so much that He was willing to die for us? The mind struggles to comprehend such love.

This is the love that Jesus has told us to go and share with the world. His desire is that His message of love reach the four corners of the world, and that is the work that Mission Partners For Christ takes seriously.

Jesus Cares For Each Person We Serve

“Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’ In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

-Luke 15:8-10

It’s easy to forget that, in missions, we’re not just sharing the gospel and love of Jesus with a collective group of people, but with individual people who are loved beyond measure by our God. He cares if that little girl we treated in our clinic last year has a bad day, is grieving a loss, or is celebrating the happiest day of her life. He cares if she comes to know Him through a personal relationship. He cares about every part of her life because she is fearfully and wonderfully made in His image.

Every single person we treat, share the gospel with, and pray with are individual souls with immeasurable worth to the Lord.

So when Mission Partners For Christ goes into the mission field, we go with the hopes of introducing as many people as possible to Jesus, so that they can begin a personal relationship with Him as their Savior.

Jesus Cares For Those Who Go

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. – Deuteronomy 31:6

Missions are an important part of spiritual disciplines for those called to go. While the main motivation to go and serve are the people we’re ministering to, there is also an element to these trips that allows the Holy Spirit to minister to the missionaries as well!

So many of our volunteers have told us that they return home feeling renewed in their faith and even more passionate about seeing the gospel shared than ever before.

Here are just a few ways in which missions help missionaries grow and mature in Christ:

  • Missions teach missionaries to humble themselves to allow God space to show up and do the work He wants to do through them
  • Missions can help participants hear God’s voice more clearly and find clarification the the places He is calling them to go in their future ministry opportunities
  • Missions can reinvigorate the volunteer’s fire for Jesus and the spread of the gospel

Missions are also a great way for participants to find clarity in their life’s purpose. As an example, here’s a life update that one of our former volunteers shared with us recently.

When he served with us, Jason had no medical experience. However, due to his experiences working with us in Burkina Faso in March 2019, today he is on a path towards becoming a doctor, and still has missions on his mind:

“I am currently preparing for my MCAT exam which I plan to take in January 2024.

I will be applying this upcoming cycle with the hopes of finally becoming a physician and give back to my community.

I’m very passionate about serving underserved areas of the country and around the world so I hope I get to have more opportunities like I did on my trip to Burkina Faso. I just want to thank you so much for the opportunity you gave to me as someone with no prior medical education to join you and your team on a life changing trip to practice what I truly love. I’m hoping in the future when I have more time to be able to serve on another trip.”

Jesus Cares For Unreached Communities

Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.
-Revelation 3:20

One unique thing about Mission Partners For Christ that you may be unaware of is that we only go and serve communities that have been unreached with the gospel. So while we may visit a particular country more than once, we never go back to the same areas. We consider the role we play to be small in comparison to what local church leaders, missionaries, and pastors are called to do within their own communities once the gospel has taken root.

We work with our missionary partners in the area to identify unreached people groups who we might serve, and once we leave the area and go back home, we ensure that they have resources they need to continue building up the local Christian community. We leave it all in the hands of our faithful God to grow the seeds we were allowed to plant into fruition, and to equip believers with what they need to serve and grow the local church.

We believe deeply that Jesus cares for the people we serve. As was stated at the beginning of this post, we serve a God who sees and loves each individual. We believe that He is working in these communities long before we arrive, to bring each person to the place they need to be to be open to hearing the gospel. We also believe that God sends His Holy Spirit to grow Christians in these communities into great leaders who will be instrumental in, not just growing the local church, but also in sending out missionaries to introduce outside communities to Jesus.

Not too long ago, we shared a letter that was written by a Liberian pastor, Pastor Harding, who used the Jesus Film equipment he received to go to neighboring communities and share the gospel. His understanding of local communities and culture gave him an opening to go into those areas and share the wonderful news of Jesus. And because Pastor Harding was faithful to God’s call, so many people were introduced to Christ. The church in Liberia will continue to grow as the name of Jesus is declared more and more throughout the nation.

Isn’t that exciting!?

Are you feeling a call into missions? Do you long to see the name of Jesus shared to the ends of the earth?

We invite you to fill out an application for an upcoming medical missions trip to Africa. We are currently accepting applications for our 2024 10-day medical mission trip to delaya closed country in Northwest Africa. But don’t delay – there are only 2 spots left for medical professionals!

God has miraculously opened doors for Mission Partners For Christ to travel to this closed country in Northwest Africa to provide free medical care and the hope of the gospel to unreached communities. Most people in this country have never even heard the name of Jesus, which makes this an incredible opportunity to share the gospel! In addition to our free medical clinics, and alongside our local partners, we will be working with communities and their leaders through a coaching process that will equip those we visit with the necessary tools to help themselves out of the cycle of poverty.
