In the New Testament, we see a powerful example of partnership between the Apostle Paul and the Philippian church, which played a crucial role in supporting his missionary work. Paul’s relationship with the Philippians is a shining example of how financial support can be an integral part of spreading the Gospel and meeting the needs of those on the frontlines of ministry.

How Financial Support Made Paul’s Mission Efforts Successful

The church at Philippi was one of Paul’s greatest supporters. In his letter to them, he expresses deep gratitude for their ongoing financial help: “Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel… not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only” (Philippians 4:15).

The Philippians didn’t just give once—they gave time and again, sharing in Paul’s struggles and victories, even when it wasn’t convenient for them.

Paul understood that his ability to travel, preach, and plant churches was largely due to the faithful support of believers like those in Philippi. Their generosity enabled him to focus on his calling without the distraction of financial worries. They were co-laborers in the Gospel through their giving, and Paul made it clear that their generosity not only helped him, but also was an act of worship to God:

“I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God” (Philippians 4:18).

Missions Still Rely On The Generous Support Of People Like You

Today, donors have the opportunity to play a similar role by supporting short-term medical missions, like those undertaken by Mission Partners for Christ. Our medical missions are a tangible way to bring Christ’s love to some of the most underserved populations around the world. Through the provision of medical care, many people who would otherwise go without are blessed with life-saving treatments and the chance to hear the Gospel.

But just like Paul needed the support of the Philippian church to accomplish his missionary work, short-term medical missions also depend on the financial backing of generous believers. Whether it’s funding travel expenses, purchasing medical supplies, or providing necessary resources for in-country volunteers, every dollar given helps make it possible for medical teams to go where the need is greatest.

By giving to support medical missions, you are following the example of the Philippians and becoming a partner in the life-changing work of bringing hope and healing to those in need. You may not be able to travel to the mission field yourself, but your financial support enables others to go, making you an essential part of the team.

The average medical mission trip can cost upwards of $14,253.00. On top of this, we also often donate a clean water well wherever one can be placed.

Your Gifts Will Echo Into Eternity

As Paul said to the Philippians, “My God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). When we step out in faith to support kingdom work, God promises to take care of our needs, just as He did for Paul and the Philippians.

Your generosity can help us continue to provide medical care, share the love of Christ, and plant seeds of faith in the hearts of those who may have never heard the Good News. Together, we can make a lasting impact in the lives of people who are in desperate need of both physical and spiritual healing.

Let’s partner together, just as the Philippians did with Paul, to see God’s love spread to the ends of the earth through the gift of medical missions.
