Are you a medical or dental student who is curious about medical missions? This is the blog post for you!
As a Christian, who is also pursuing a career in the medical or dental field, you may be feeling a pull towards using your newfound skills and knowledge to help others and to serve God. This is why you are studying for your degree, after all; doctors and dentists are often generous people who simply want to help make the lives of other people better.
But were you aware that you can serve in the mission field as a doctor or dentist?
Mission Partners For Christ is so happy to be able to offer scholarships to medical and dental students who are interested in joining us on one of our upcoming medical mission trips! This scholarship was created in order to make volunteering on medical mission trips more accessible to students and to help give them real world experience in their prospective fields – all while helping others, gaining new experiences, and serving God.
Why Should You Volunteer?
Participating in a medical mission trip can be a rewarding and meaningful way to make a difference in the world.
As a volunteer on a medical mission trip, you will have the unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of underserved communities. Medical mission trips can provide much needed medical care, treatment, and education to communities that may not have access to these resources otherwise.
Medical mission trips can provide a unique opportunity for medical professionals and students to learn about different healthcare systems, cultural practices, and to gain new skills and experience. As a medical or dental student, you can further develop the skills that you are acquiring, and use that experience to your benefit. You can nurture your developing bedside manner as you learn how to interact with patients from different backgrounds and cultures.
You will get the chance to make a real difference in the world. Medical mission trips can help to address global health disparities and contribute to the goal of ensuring that everyone has access to quality healthcare.
You will have the chance to see how God is working in communities around the world from a perspective that few people get to have. You get to be part of God’s work in the community that you are serving. You will get to see firsthand how the gospel is impacting that community. You will also have the chance to meet your brothers and sisters in Christ, who you very well may not have otherwise met, and experience fellowship in a whole new way!
Imagine getting to pursue your degree and gain some real world experience and all for the glory of God!
Where Is Mission Partners For Christ Serving in 2023?
Great question!
We have three trips coming up in 2023: Guinea (February 4-13), Burundi (July 14-23), and Togo (November 4-13).
While it is too late to join us in Guinea, applications are open for both Burundi and Togo. Here are the details for those trips:
Burundi:
Burundi is one of the smallest countries in Africa. The majority of the population lives in rural areas which has lead to deforestation (overpopulation), soil erosion and habitat loss. Burundians experience a great deal of poverty, corruption, poor access to healthcare, education and hunger.
Mission Partners for Christ has been partnering with CAPRO Calvary Ministries in Burundi since 2019 and supported a clean water project so thousands of people have access to clean water each day. CAPRO is committed to sharing the gospel in unreached areas and discipleship training.
During this trip you will also have an opportunity to serve alongside some young Burundian doctors to encourage their volunteer work in the remote/rural places.
Togo:
Togo is located in West Africa. The medical team will serve in 4 rural villages that are very interested in being involved in a 3-5 year coaching process to transform themselves and break the cycle of poverty.
Together with our partner, Global Hope Network International, we will host a free medical outreach and provide health education.
You can learn more about our trips to Burundi and to Togo on our volunteer page
