South Sudan 2026 Recap

Growing the Kingdom and Providing Life – Changing Medical Care in South Sudan.

Millions of people in South Sudan don’t have access to critical healthcare or medical education.

Concerning issues for people in South Sudan:

5

South Sudan sits on the brink of civil war. Poverty and starvation are widespread, and danger lurks everywhere. The U.S. State Department has the region listed at a Level 4 security designation.

5

There is nearly no access to clean water for the Arilo region. The Tennet people share a single dirty water source with animals — driving rampant intestinal disease, skin infections, and childhood illness.

5

Life expectancy sits at an appalling 40-45 years of age. Government neglect and extreme isolation mean most people will never see a doctor in their lifetime.

We desire to make the name of Jesus known in South Sudan and to be a living expression of God’s love for them through providing accessible healthcare & clean drinking water.

Our Mission In South Sudan:

To bring doctors and medical professionals to serve and share the gospel with the Tennet people — one of the most isolated and underserved communities in the world.

Objective 1

Share the Gospel With the Unreached.

In the most spiritually isolated setting MPFC has ever served, 569 Tennet people made first-time decisions to follow Jesus — the most salvations recorded on any single MPFC trip in our organization’s history.

Objective 2

Provide Life-Saving Healthcare

Our team of 11 saw 1,572 patients across four days and four villages, treating intestinal parasites, wounds, malnutrition, and more — many of which had gone without care for months or years.

Objective 3

Empowering Healthier Communities.

Every family received hygiene handouts. Health educator Kathleen led daily education sessions incorporating scripture and the gospel. We continue to pray for long-term change in sanitation and water access.

Our Team

In late February 2026, our eleven-person team from Mission Partners For Christ traveled into a forgotten corner of the world. It was not easy, or safe, or comfortable — but God called us to go, so we went.

What followed was four days of extraordinary grace: the highest number of salvations in MPFC’s history, lives physically restored, and a community that had long stopped expecting anyone to notice them reminded that they are seen, and loved, by a God who goes before us.

Thank you to Cherry, Esther, Tammy, Sophia, Kim, Jen, Mitchell, Mark, Toshie, and Kathleen for saying yes to God’s call and joining Sheri in South Sudan!

Providing Life Saving Medical Care in Burundi

The Most Salvations in MPFC’s History!

Across the full trip — through the medical outreach, counseling sessions, and Jesus film showings — 569 Tennet people made first-time decisions to follow Jesus. For a region where most people had never heard the name of Christ, this was nothing short of extraordinary. It is the highest number of first-time commitments in any single MPFC trip in the organization’s history.

Mission Aviation Fellowship Flies Our Team into Arilo

The area we were serving was so remote (and inaccessible by road) that we needed to fly our team in. To safely transport the team and all medical supplies, MPFC partnered with Mission Aviation Fellowship.

Without MAF’s expertise and willingness, the trip would not have been possible. We are so grateful for our relationship with them in the gospel mission!

MPFC Team Members Washed The Feet of Local Missionaries

One of the most moving moments of the trip had nothing to do with medicine. Several team members felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to perform a foot washing — kneeling down to wash the feet of the local missionaries who had served alongside them, and praying over each one. In a place marked by so much visible suffering and need, it was a quiet, powerful reminder of why we come: not as experts or rescuers, but as servants following the example of Jesus.

Morning devotions in South Sudan

Spiritual Preparation That Made All the Difference

A month before departure, the team united in spiritual preparation — daily devotions centered on declaring the gospel and walking in obedience. That unity was felt from day one, creating a sense of family among people who had never met in person.

Dr. Mark, a newly retired physician joining MPFC for the first time, arrived with quiet reservations about whether this was the right team for him. By the end of the trip, he was talking about incorporating new spiritual practices into his own medical mission work. One of the nurses felt moved by the Holy Spirit to pray specifically over him — and he later said it was one of the most meaningful moments of the journey. He has already confirmed he is planning to return for another trip.

Long-Term Impact

5

569 new believers means that there is an open door for the gospel!

5

Prior to our visit, even close major cities were unaware of the communities we served. God may use our brief time there to spark curiosity and new avenues of ministry for local believers

5

Health education was unheard of prior to our time in Arilo. Now, hundreds, and potentially thousands, will have fresh understanding of how to actively protect their health.
