Meet Dr. Providence Uwimana Okaalet
Dr. Providence Uwimana Okaalet serves as the Medical Director at Watermark Health, where she also contributes her expertise as the physician of the Watermark Urgent Care Mobile Clinic. Born in Rwanda and raised in Kenya and Texas, Dr. Uwimana’s diverse background and compassionate outlook have profoundly influenced her medical journey. She pursued her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Baylor University, followed by a Doctor of Medicine degree from Medical University of the Americas. Her medical training culminated in a Family Practice residency at Texas A&M Baylor Scott White Family Medicine.
After completing her residency, Providence continued to pursue her calling to serve the underserved. This led her to the PCEA Chogoria Mission Hospital in Kenya, where she contributed as a Family Medicine Specialist. Her tenure in Kenya was marked by her roles as a Family Medicine Residency attendant at the hospital, as well as a Clinical Consultant and Research Advisor for Kabarak University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. In 2019, Dr. Uwimana returned to the United States, driven by her passion to serve the underserved and continue her medical career.
Outside of her professional life, Providence cherishes time with her husband and their two children. Together, they enjoy traveling and sharing moments with friends and family.
